I know I have been neglecting you, my faithful and only reader.
Here’s what’s going on. Last Tuesday we had our course mid-term. It was in two sections. We had a written portion and then a multiple choice section. I did great on the multiple choice section and I did fairly well on the written part. The teacher threw in a question that was on a module outside of what the exam was supposed to cover. When he was called on this yesterday in class he opted to call it a bonus question. That bastard. I wasn’t sure at all what he was looking for as an answer so I did one of those “fill the space provided with words to form barely coherent sentences in the hopes that he just skims over it and gives you the mark” maneuvers. It didn’t work at all. He wrote this in the margin “well…NO!” I’m serious, he actually wrote that.
Yesterday we handed in our cabling project. Dom and I had anticipated that it would only take us a few hours of good team work to get it done. We were wrong. We got together twice for several hours each time and still had to finish up on our spare time. The first day we worked on it we spent almost three hours deciphering what he wanted from us. Once we figured out the hieroglyphs and decoded the instructions using the Dead Sea Scrolls things moved along fairly quickly. We didn’t procrastinate either. The Muse… err… teacher was just very vague. When asked how much work he was looking for and what level of detail we got “Five pages is not enough and ten is probably too much.” I think he’s super rad! We got it done but I think we over did it. I think we provided more detail then he was looking for. We’ll see when we get it back. For all I know we probably weren’t even close to what he was looking for.
Our lab books are due tomorrow. The lab books are just a compilation of the exercises we do for each module. We had those all done so it’s no biggie. I was just at Dom’s making sure we had all we needed.
More workload. Our final exam is next Tuesday and we are still two modules away from completion. So I’m guessing our sensei will be cramming those chapters down our throats tomorrow night. Should be wicked good stuff.
On another note. Those of you who see me daily may know that about two weeks ago my muffler mount broke. I had paid a hundred and seventy five dollars to have my after market muffler installed and Midas has a good warranty on their work so they offered to fix it for free. Free is good. However when I got it back I noticed that the the gap between the muffler tips and the bumper was almost three inches. Ugly, really fucking ugly. The original install they did had a space that was maybe half an inch. It looked great. I brought it back and they fixed it. In doing so they had to weld a new mounting bracket. They burned part of the carpeting in my trunk. When he told me this I drew breath in order to howl my rage at him but without skipping a beat he told me a factory replacement had already been ordered. General Motors charges a thousand dollars (Canadian… so like six American dollars) for moulded trunk carpeting. I looked at the damage and it’s completely hidden in the spare tire compartment. You can’t see it at all. So I asked if I could get my brakes replaced instead. Believe it or not this saves them a lot of money so they instantly agreed. I get new brakes tomorrow so I save eight hundred dollars. If you need work done go to Midas. They have great service.
If you read all of this I commend you. I really should start spreading stuff like this over a few posts…
